MT500 Set Up:
Simply, insert a 5/8" hot melt stick that matches your guns temperature and plug it in. The MT 500 hot melt applicator heats up in about 5 minutes. Make sure you allow your gun to warm up all the way before using it to keep your gun in tip top shape.
MT500 In Action:
The MT 500 is an all purpose industrial glue gun and it reviewed quite well. During our testing one trigger pull using an 1/8" bead produces approximately 18 linear inches. The gun does drip when idle, but after checking out the manual we found out incidental dripping is normal with the standard ball check valve. This nozzle drips because the shut off is not at the very tip of the nozzle. There is however a non-drip nozzle also available for this gun.
The most interesting aspect of this gun is that the trigger is actually controlled by your palm. This palm feed trigger helps you avoid getting hand fatigue. Plus, this hot melt applicator only weighs 2.2 pounds! We found that much lighter than comparable models with similar speed and output.
Conclusion:
We think the MT 500 industrial glue gun by Ad Tech is a classic. The best feature in our opinion is that it's a 5/8" glue gun, using a 5/8" glue stick increases productivity. We love the palm trigger and the weight of the gun these properties make the MT 500 easy to use for extended periods of time.
For the price of this gun we definitely think you get lots of bang for your buck. This gun might not have as high of output as others in the industrial realm, but it's palm trigger, weight, standard size (5/8") hot melt sticks and cost definitely make it one of our favorites.
