There are so many hot melts on the market, and many have similar specifications and properties. Even if you know what chemistry you need, finding the perfect product to match your application can be overwhelming. Fortunately, we are here to help.
At Hotmelt.com, hot melt adhesives are our specialty. We have been in the adhesives industry for over fifty years and have worked with a large number of products. Below we compare EMS-Griltech Griltex 6E versus Bostik PES 3110 to give you some insight into these two similar copolyester hot melt adhesives as well as which one might be best for your needs.
About EMS-Griltech Griltex 6E
EMS-Griltech is a part of a larger company, the EMS Group, that is based in Switzerland. While it has several ventures, EMS-Griltech largely specializes in adhesive solutions for the textile industry. Some of their products include fusible adhesives, adhesive yarns, and adhesion promoters.
The EMS-Griltech Griltex 6E adhesive is a copolyester hot melt that is primarily used to coat apparel interlining substrates as well as in some technical lamination applications. It can also be used in automotive interiors, adhesive films, and home furnishings.
Garments coated with this product have good dimensional stability and resistance to laundering, steaming, and dry cleaning processes. This adhesive also has a very high viscosity at 800,000 cps at 320°F. It comes in pellet and powder forms and is compatible with paste dot, base dot, and scatter coating systems.

About Bostik PES 3110
Bostik is a well-known adhesive solutions provider headquartered in Wisconsin. It is a part of the Arkema Group and develops adhesives for a wide range of applications, including those in the textile industry.
Similar to the Griltex 6E adhesive, Bostik's PES 3110 copolyester hot melt adhesive is primarily used in textile bonding and laminating apparel applications. It is designed to have a high resistance to washing, dry cleaning, and steam, so it is a durable option for the entire laundry cycle. It has a high viscosity and is available in both bulk pellets and powder form.

While the same in chemistry, forms, and their types of resistances, these products do have some important distinctions. The Bostik PES 3110 hot melt adhesive has a slightly higher viscosity than the Griltex 6E hot melt. High viscosity adhesives usually run and drip less. PES 3110's high viscosity also ties into its slightly higher melting point. Griltex 6E and PES 3110 also have different glue line temperature ranges. While both have a temperature range difference of 54°F, Bostik PES 3110's temperature range is lower.
Another potential difference between the Griltex 6E hot melt and the PES 3110 hot melt is the price. Griltex 6E is manufactured in Europe. Consequently, North American or U.S. businesses may have to pay added fees or expensive shipping costs when ordering it. On the other hand, Bostik PES 3110 is made in the United States, so some of these fees may be avoided or are minimal in comparison.
Which Is Better?
After comparing Griltex 6E with PES 3110, we believe that both adhesives can be effective when used with a compatible application. The differences between the two products are minimal, so in most cases, either adhesive will work. The biggest difference maker is likely the price.
